JCN Bolig has constructed Søagerhusene in Smørum, a development that forms part of Thylander’s Build for Lifeinitiative, carried out in collaboration with the Sophienberg Group.
The Sophienberg Group is part of Thylander, which has established the Build for Life Fund with an investment capacity of DKK 2.5 billion, targeting residential projects with a strong emphasis on quality, architecture, and sustainability. The fund focuses geographically on selected areas within the Greater Copenhagen “Finger Plan,” where there is a documented shortage of rental housing. The Finger Plan is a strategic development framework for the Copenhagen metropolitan area.
The Smørum project consists of 106 homes in one- and two-story configurations, offering a range of housing types and sizes. The residential area covers 10,100 m² and is divided into three main zones, each with its own unique character and identity. The site’s old gymnasium will be preserved and complemented by a new community house for residents.
JCN Bolig has been involved in an extensive development process with the client to ensure the project’s buildability and to deliver a scheme that meets the fund’s ESG mandate and the desired quality of the residential area. Together with the client, we are proud to have delivered a project that is DGNB Gold-certified, complies with the EU Taxonomy, and aims to be constructed with at least 30% lower CO₂ emissions than the current requirements of the Danish Building Regulations.
