332 youth housing units close to central Copenhagen.
NREP continues its collaboration with JCN Bolig on a Nordic Living development project at August Schades Gade. The project consists of 332 youth housing units to be built along Amagerfælledvej, close to the heart of Copenhagen.
This is yet another housing project that NREP and JCN Bolig are launching together, built on a strong foundation of sustainability. As with previous projects, August Schades Gade will be DGNB Gold-certified. However, NREP has introduced even stricter requirements for Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and low carbon emissions for this project, which must also comply with the EU Taxonomy.
We are excited to have the opportunity to integrate all three sustainability criteria into a single construction. Naturally, this demands precise planning and budgeting, which is why JCN Bolig has engaged closely with the project’s advisors. With JCN Bolig’s sustainability team and in-house LCA specialist involved from the early stages, any challenges or changes can be addressed proactively.
JCN Bolig and NREP have previously worked together on the UMEUS youth housing project in Copenhagen’s Nordhavn, Made In Aarhus in Lisbjerg, and PÅ Risskovbrynet in Aarhus. All projects were DGNB Gold-certified.
During the development phase, JCN Bolig and NREP employed an "open book" approach in all aspects of project budgeting. This transparency made it easier to develop joint solutions by giving both parties full visibility into the numbers, allowing for streamlined optimization, cost estimation, and design coordination.

August Schades Gade will span a total of 15,000 m². It includes 89 public youth housing units, 243 private student apartments, 1,200 m² for a grocery store, and various shared areas. Additionally, there will be a 2,630 m² basement for parking, storage, and technical facilities. The project is designed by EFFEKT Architects, with engineering by Artelia.
