The project has been devised as a holistic-oriented vision for a residence that is based on Aarhus Municipality’s aim of a dense city area with varying residential areas and urban areas. The ambitious vison is to create a district that is a leader in sustainable initiatives, which utilises resources in the best possible way.
The project comprises the building of 215 family homes comprising of terrace homes and multi-storey housing, in total 18,933 m². The development comprises 12 clusters of buildings, each cluster primary consisting of two buildings. The 1-3 storey buildings are made from wooden frames, with roof inclines of 20–30 degrees. The roofs have asphalt roofing/green areas and integrated solar cells.
The development is divided into three neighbourhoods, “Havebyen”, “Naturbæltet” and “Bakkedraget”, each designed with their own characteristics in the communal outdoor spaces. The development consists of a variation of façade material – brick, metal/slate and wood in a combination of new certified products and upcycled materials.
The development shall be DGNB Gold certified by Green Building Council Denmark.
