JCN Bolig to Construct Thylander’s Build for Life Project
28 April 2025
JCN Bolig has been selected as the design and build contractor for Thylander’s Build for Life project, developed in collaboration with Sophienberg Gruppen.
JCN Bolig has been chosen by Sophienberg as the turnkey contractor for the developer’s upcoming project, Søagerhusene, in Smørum.
Sophienberg Gruppen is part of Thylander, which has established the “Build for Life Foundation” with an investment capacity of DKK 2.5 billion for residential projects focused on quality, architecture, and sustainability. The foundation targets selected areas within the Finger Plan where there is a documented shortage of rental housing.
The project in Smørum consists of 106 homes across one and two levels, divided into different housing types and sizes. The residential area covers 10,100 m² and is organized into three main zones, each with its own distinct character and appearance. In addition, the old gymnasium will be preserved, and a community house for local residents will be built adjoining it.
JCN Bolig has been involved in an extensive development process, and the parties are pleased to have reached the final stage of the project, which will be DGNB Gold-certified, constructed in compliance with the EU Taxonomy, and aim to achieve at least 30% lower CO₂ emissions compared to the current building regulations requirements.
Lars Bigom, CEO of Sophienberg Gruppen, states:
“We are pleased to have reached a point in the development of the project in Smørum where we can announce the turnkey contractor. We have sought a contractor who could help develop the project's buildability and deliver a project that meets the foundation’s ESG mandate and the residential area's quality standards.”
The construction site is located close to JCN Bolig’s office in Glostrup, ensuring that the project will be closely monitored by both the company’s project management and executive team.
Michael Ørgaard, Sales and Marketing Director at JCN Bolig, adds:
“We are very pleased to add this residential project to our order portfolio. We have had great success with our JCN Bolig 360 concept, where we combine expertise in apartment buildings with townhouse construction. With this new order, we have built a solid portfolio of townhouse projects, currently totaling approximately 50,000 m². All of this has been achieved through a combination of competencies in efficient residential construction and sustainable building practices.”
Work is currently underway on the authority approval project, with the goal of submitting a building permit application in March 2025. The architect for the project is Link Arkitektur A/S, and engineering services are provided by Brav.
